VTHS Choral Program: 2008/2009

 Director:      Katie Cimorelli

The Vernon Township High School Choirs have been recognized as representing one of the most outstanding choral programs in the state of New Jersey.  Three curricular choirs meet every day, Concert Choir-Mixed, Concert Choir-Women, and  Meistersingers are under the direction of Ms. Katie Cimorelli.  A graduate of Rowan University in 2004, Ms. Cimorelli started teaching at Vernon in April of 2006.

The three choirs combined number approximately 90 students.  These 90 singers merge under the direction of Katie Cimorelli performing as the Symphonic Choir at the concerts.  Ms. Cimorelli also conducts the chamber ensembles:  Les Chanteuses (select women), Chanticleer (select men), and Close Harmony (select acappella group).  The choirs perform three concerts yearly, A Holiday Concert, a Spring Concert, and an "On Broadway" Concert.  The choirs also present many other concerts through the year, and appear in evaluative festivals.  Two years ago, the choir traveled to Disney World and performed in the American Pavilion Rotunda in Epcot and this year the choir will travel to Boston and perform in Old North Liberty Church!

Choir Council is a student elected board of 9 dedicated choir members who hold leadership positions.  This council meets monthly with Ms. Cimorelli and devotes time and energy into running this program.
